This is 19:47 of progressive rock in all its' excess and glory...

Originally the lyrics were written when I was 21 years old, during a two week period when my grandmother had a severe stroke and while in the hospital, cancer in her abdomen underwent wild growth and eventually killed her. There was a lot of confusion emotionally for me during the crisis, as everyone who were supposed to be the rock solid support all became a mess as they were confronted with questions that everyone fears to answer - do we sign a DNR, or put her on life support, etc...

At the same time, my bandmates wanted to write and perform an original tune for a talent show - a prog rock epic. We were heavily influenced by Marillion, so I guess I absconded with Fish's drunk and drug addled character and used him to write this tale of The Lady in The Cage - my grandmother who was trapped within her own body. All of the character's musings were grounded in the terrible situation of the Cage - she was physically trapped by her condition, but he was trapped by his bad choices and self-destructive behavior.

It doesn't end well for the character...
